Introducing: Mika Skincare
For the first time at Dilettante we are presenting a skincare range.
I have always been receptive to natural body care, like washing my hair with shampoo bars & Apple cider vinegar. However, it was when I became pregnant that I started to investigate further. I discovered that our bodies absorb an average of 64% of what we put on our skin, which means it can be absorbed by the bloodstream or lymphatic system. This emphasised to me the importance of being conscious of not only what we put into our bodies, but what we lather onto our skin every single day.
During my pursuit for a pure skin care regime, I found the most luxurious and nourishing body care, hand-made right here in Perth. MIKA is 100% natural, organic & transparently sourced. As well as all containers and wrappings being compostable, biodegradable and reusable.
All Mika products are produced by a woman in the third trimester of her life which has been full of imagining, formulating and bringing to bear her notions. There is an ongoing attempt, thought and attention to maintaining care of the place on which we live. Caring for all living creatures, planting trees, picking up rubbish and living in a natural world are all passions tightly held.

BODY OIL & MUSCLE BLEND.
Both Skin Tonics have certified organically grown cold pressed extra virgin Olive Oil (Regan's Ridge, W.A.), Peach Kernel oil (Australia) with the main bulk being Golden Jojoba (pesticide free, north western N.S.W.) as carriers for the essential oils.
Jojoba is not an oil (trygliceride), rather a liquid wax made up of long chain linear esters which is highly effective as a moisturiser for the whole body including scalp and hair. Jojoba boasts an extremely long shelf life. The body oil blend is intended for general use; a readily absorbed luxurious moisturiser that will leave your skin feeling dewy and well nourished, whereas the essential oils used in the muscle blend work toward increased blood flow and circulation.
The Fragonia and Kunzea relax tired muscles and jangled nerves, with Sandalwood and Lavender assisting to settle the mind. This is what I use as an all-over body moisturiser and is the most healing and luxurious ritual of my day.
For best use, apply to dampened skin. A little goes a long way!
CINNAMON, LAVENDER, LEMONGRASS & ORANGE.
The Mika liquid soaps produced with certified organically grown cold pressed extra virgin olive oil, certified organically grown castor oil, rice bran oil, coconut oil and Margaret River rainwater. The soaps are rich in olive oil and clean the skin without stripping moisture.
My favourite would have to be the cinnamon which is a pure essential oil blend of benzoin, cedarwood, cinnamon and rosemary - mildly astringent and stimulating to the mind. I use this everyday in the shower, and two pumps does my whole body. Honestly this liquid soap is transformative. I have never found a soap to feel like such a sensual pleasure. It so incredibly soft and silky (due to its high oil content) and boasts a sumptuous scent that isn’t too overbearing.
LAVENDER, LEMONGRASS, ORANGE & WILDFLOWER
Pure essential oils diluted with Margaret River rainwater. Simply shake the bottle before use and spray up in the air around a room or around oneself. Bright, beautiful scents that can also be used to freshen up linens.
